A Reminder About Daily Affirmations (and One New Thing I've Added)
A while back, I wrote about daily affirmations and how they’re apart of my creative routine. In fact, it is my most popular post here on Substack.
The Power of Daily Affirmations
I’ve been giving a lot of writing advice this month. But I realized that I haven't mentioned the piece of advice I use every single day. That advice is Daily Affirmations.
I thought it might be time for a little reminder. Because writing books isn’t just about having the right plot or the perfect words. It’s about protecting the six inches between our ears.
Every day we tell ourselves stories.
“I’m behind.”
“I’m not writing fast enough.”
“The algorithm hates me.”
“No one wants to read my books.”
“My last launch wasn’t good enough.”
These are affirmations too. They’re just affirmations we should not have on repeat. Let this be the record scratch.
Recently, I’ve added something new to my routine. I’ve started listening to affirmation soundtracks. Think of them as background music for your mindset.
Instead of doomscrolling first thing in the morning, I surround myself with messages about creativity, abundance, discipline, confidence, and possibility.
I have nothing else to say. I’m going to go listen…
And don’t forget to follow my Diversified Author Blueprint Kickstarter. I’m currently documenting my processes for selling across various platforms and strategies so that I’m not dependent on one retailer or algorithm.

I'm going to get back to my daily affirmations again. 💖💖💖
